Pancreatic Cancer Research Bracelet Press Release
RED BANK, NJ, APRIL 4, 2017 – Oriana Lamarca, an international designer of one-of-a-kind semi-precious gemstone bracelets and other fashion accessories designed a custom gemstone bracelet in honor of Stefano DeSena to benefit the 8th annual Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk. The walk was first organized in 2010 by Nicole Tuscano to help raise funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Pancreatic cancer is the nation’s fourth leading cause of cancer deaths, and its low survival rate has not improved in 25 years. “When a good friend asked me to make a bracelet to honor Stefano DeSesna, a family friend who died of pancreatic cancer, I immediately said yes,” said Lamarca. “Stefano was a loving husband, grandfather and uncle who was diagnosed in February of 2016 and fought a tough battle with this horrible disease. He lost that fight on March 10th 2017,” she added.
Oriana’s intent was to design a distinctive bracelet for The Lustgarten Foundation but one that also symbolized Stefano’s faith and strength. Aside from the fact that purple and yellow are the organization’s colors, she selected an amethyst gemstone, as it is a powerful stone that protects the wearer from harm. She paired this with a medal of St. Jude, the Patron Saint of Hope and impossible causes. Oriana’s hope is that when “Stevie D’s Crew” will be sporting their armcandy on race day and every other day, in his memory.
Proceeds from the sale of this bracelet will go to The Lustgarten Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created in 1998 to advance the science related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer. 100% of every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
