General Care Guidelines

To maintain the integrity and appearance of your jewelry:

  • Avoid contact with water

Do not wear jewelry while bathing, swimming, exercising, or using a sauna or steam room. Moisture can weaken elastic cords, damage finishes, and accelerate wear.

  • Keep away from chemicals

Perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, body oils, sunscreen, and cleaning products may cause discoloration, fading, or breakdown of materials. Always apply beauty products first and allow them to fully dry before wearing your jewelry.

  • Remove before sleeping

Sleeping in jewelry can cause stretching, stress on elastic or corded designs, loosening of components, or breakage due to movement.

  • Avoid impact and pressure

Dropping jewelry or knocking it against hard surfaces may result in chipping, cracking, or loosening of beads, charms, or components.

Care for Elastic & Corded Bracelets

  • Roll on and off gently

To protect the elastic or cord, roll bracelets over your hand when putting them on or removing them. Avoid pulling, tugging, or overstretching.

  • Avoid prolonged or daily wear

Continuous wear can accelerate stretching and wear of elastic cords over time and may require restringing.

Special Care for Dyed Jade & Agate

Many of our designs feature dyed jade and agate, chosen for their vibrant colors and striking patterns. These stones are naturally porous, and dye transfer may occur under certain conditions, including:

  • Exposure to moisture or sweat

  • Friction from tight-fitting bracelets

  • Heat or humidity increasing skin absorption

Color transfer, fading, or variation caused by these factors is a natural characteristic of dyed stones and not a manufacturing defect.

For best results:

  • Avoid wearing dyed stone jewelry during high humidity, strenuous activity, or extended wear.

  • If your bracelet feels snug or leaves an impression on your skin, resizing is recommended to reduce friction and dye transfer.

Metal & Charm Care

Oriana LaMarca Designs uses a variety of metal components across our collections, including gold-filled, gold-plated, and mixed metal elements, selected for their beauty, durability, and design integrity.

Gold-Filled Jewelry

Gold-filled jewelry consists of a thick layer of solid gold that is pressure-bonded to a base metal. It offers greater durability than gold-plated jewelry and, with proper care, can maintain its appearance for an extended period.

  • Remove before exposure to water, sweat, or chemicals

  • Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, and oils

  • Store in a dry place away from humidity

Gold-Plated Jewelry

Gold-plated jewelry features a thin layer of gold applied over a base metal. Because the gold layer is more delicate, it may naturally wear or fade over time, especially with frequent wear or exposure to moisture and body chemistry.

  • Best suited for occasional wear

  • Not recommended for daily or prolonged use

  • Fading or wear to plating is considered normal and is not a manufacturing defect

General Metal Care

  • Exposure to moisture, sweat, heat, and chemicals may cause natural patina, tarnishing, or wear

  • Changes in finish over time are expected and not covered under warranty

  • Remove jewelry before bathing, swimming, exercising, or sleeping

Natural wear, tarnishing, fading, or changes in finish to gold-filled, gold-plated, or mixed metal components are not considered manufacturing defects and may require repair or replacement in accordance with our Repair & Warranty Policy.

  • ***Metal finishes may wear differently based on individual body chemistry and lifestyle, which is normal and not a defect.

Handling & Cleaning

  • Clean with care

Use a soft, white cloth with a trace amount of mineral oil to gently polish beads if needed.

  • Avoid harsh cleaning methods

Do not submerge jewelry in water or use ultrasonic cleaners, soaps, alcohol, or chemical jewelry cleaners, as these may damage stones, dyes, finishes, or elastic.

Proper Storage

  • Store jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box when not in use.

  • Keep pieces away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat.

  • Store items separately when possible to prevent scratching, friction, or dye transfer between beads and charms.
